Thoughtfully-crafted copywriting for creatives

Here's my origin story.

Do you want to share your creative vision in an authentic way? Are you turned off by empty buzzwords? What if you don’t want to crush your goals, but just grow your creative business intentionally?

That’s what I’m all about! I’ve worked in marketing since 2003, and I’m also a lifelong creative. I understand the drive to make a living with your creative talent while honouring your vision. My experience in both of these worlds helps me attune to your unique message so you can better connect with your people.

Fun fact: The name “Samantha” means “listener” – and for me it’s accurate! I’m down-to-earth* and curious, and spend time getting to know you and your project. This way, the content I create is effective and true to you.

So, who am I?

My mother claims I learned how to read when I was three. I can’t verify that, but my early memories definitely involved reading and writing. When I was six, I wrote my first “book” – it was eight pages long. Since then, my plots got more sophisticated, and my creative interests grew. I’m still writing fiction, I’ve been a serial blogger and website tinkerer for 20+ years, I made handmade zines in my twenties, and photography is my main creative hobby.

I’m grounded and pragmatic, but I’ve also spent decades inventing fictional worlds and characters.  I’ve honed my copywriting skills in design agencies and even a ballet company. I’ve been a freelance copywriter since 2009, helping creatives uncover the heart of their stories. Honouring creativity is one of my life’s top priorities, and I love to help my clients do the same.

When I’m not writing in my sunny home office, I’m usually reading, wandering in a forest with my husband, playing a video game, taking photos, or boring my loved ones with a random historical fact (my favourite: Napoleon was actually 5′ 7″, which was average for the time!). A strong cup of Yorkshire Tea is my lifeblood, and my favourite food is Trinidadian doubles. My pronouns are she/her.

* I embrace the down-to-earth thing hard. You may see a “🜃” symbol around the site – it’s the alchemical symbol for earth, which I feel perfectly represents me and what I do. I encourage the alchemy that happens when we transform stories into powerful connections, while remaining rooted in our values.

“Grammar is a piano I play by ear … To shift the structure of a sentence alters the meaning of that sentence, as definitely and inflexibly as the position of a camera alters the meaning of the object photographed.”
– Joan Didion
